I have this TV and enjoy the sound and picture quality. I’m a soundaholic. If you’ve never had a stereo or srs/home theater sound… it DOES take some time to adjust. The sound can be *VERY INTENSE*.

I suggest you adjust the sound; turn the TruSurround HD sound *TO OFF*, but do leave the TruVolumn *ON* (you can enter the graphic equalizer presets) use these to set the quality sound you enjoy most. When you do this it’s of course ‘best’ to be playing music, music dvd IS BEST.

If you SET the preset equalizer setting to *FLAT OR OFF*… you will be able to enter and customize the settings on your (*bass & treble*) levels.

Don’t hesitate to play around with the sound settings, one click will return it to the factory settings.

You will require a lower volumn level, significantly lower… the audio quality IS dynamic and intense for this TV.

I purchased this item from Costco. It was priced at least $100 less than a comparable Sony Or Panasonic. I hadn’t read the reviews beforehand. The sound would go from extremely loud to barely audible without anyone adjusting the volume control. I looked up the reviews and sure enough there were similar complaints. I returned it the next day and bought a Sony.

Shipped to my door, unpacked and on the wall in 30 minutes.. Great picture, great sound, can’t seem to get the closed captioning to work, but I think thats more of a Satelite reciever thing than the TV. The “Vizio” light in front is a little bright for a nightlight, it stays on when the TV is off so it works like a nightlight.. No problem.. took a black Sharpie, and colored over it.. now it’s not so bright.. Other than those petty things it’s a great TV.

I bought this TV at Costco today. It was $372 with a $73 rebate for a total of $299. Unfortunately, the TV is not worth $50. The sound is a definite problem. The volume changes at a whim during a program and changes from channel to channel. The extreme loudness when a commercial comes on you makes you jump — and reach for an pair of earplugs. The picture clarity, color, and brightness are fine on the TV. But when viewing a DVD it is way too dark. For instance, on the latest “Friday Night Lights” DVD (which I have previously watched), there is a scene where Riggins shows Becki a piece of property he bought. The scene is shot during the day, but on this TV screen the scene is so dark it looks like night. When the camera pans wide to showcase the beautiful Texas landscape, you can’t even see it! According to the Vizio booklet, you can make one of three pre-selected settings but can’t fine-tune adjustments for brightness, color, or saturation. This TV proves the theory: You get what you pay for. Vizio is going back to Costco tomorrow!
