This review is from: Toshiba 50L1450U 50.0-Inch 1080p 120Hz LED TV (Black) (Electronics)
I bought this TV from Best buy on sale for $499 marked down from $799 for the super bowl sale. I thought it looked really good at first. The edge of the viewing frame is only 3/8″ wide on 3 sides. The tv itself is only 3/4″ thick for like 70% of the back of the tv. The reason I cannot say it’s great is because the picture quality drops off if the picture is anything other than 1080p). When watching regular programming where it changes to 720 or even 480, it becomes very blurry compared to our current Philips 42″ 1080p/120zLCD that we bought in ’08. I hooked the two up side by side to run off of the same programming and no matter how I tried to tweak the Toshiba, it just would not get as dynamic and sharp a picture as our Philips. I returned it back to Best Buy after 3 days. The other thing is that the anti-glare coating on the Toshiba was much shinier than the Philips. The other thing, which may be a non-starter for those of us with quality surround sounds is that the TV has mediocre sound quality. It can get loud, but it always sounds flat. Compared to my Philips, I’d give it a 5/10. Basically, with having bought this TV I was only going bigger, not better, so I’ll wait until my Philips LCD dies I guess.

    Pros:
    Low energy use
    Overall good picture
    very thin picture frame
    lightweight tv

    Cons:
    Mediocre sound quality
Mediocre picture quality when picture definition is under 1080p (the occasional regular programming) or when compared to better TV’s out there.
