This television has a beaufiful picuture. I recently bought and then sold a newer, larger television, because the picture quality was much better on this smaller set. (perceived picture quality always decreases as size increases, but the quality delta of the new set was just too great).

Sound quality is good, not great, but it is a small set.

I watch dvd’s a lot and this has component video in – which is a must have in my opinion.

Also, remote control is smaller and easier to use than other models.

If you are looking for a great little TV with an awesome picture and excellent sound, this is it!
The picture is incredibly sharp with terrific color. The speakers offer high quality stereo sound and hold up even when the volume is cranked.
I also really love the wide variety of menu options available from color, to your favorite channel selections, to tilt correction. I especially like the XDS feature that allows you to see what program is on and the time remaining just by clicking the display button.
The remote is small and simple which I find very convenient.
Lastly, it was very easy to set up and program. It took just a couple of minutes and I was watching my favorite shows.
I compared this to a Toshiba 14″ 14AF44 as well as other leading brand 13″ and 14″ TV’s. The Toshiba’s picture quality was no where near as sharp as the Sony’s nor did it have the color quality. The sound in the Toshiba was also not as crisp. In addition, the Toshiba had a remote that looked like it could operate a space station – talk about overkill! The other leading brands were not even contenders b/c the picture quality and sound could not compare to the Sony.
The only negative thing I can say about the Sony is that it was definitely the most expensive TV of all the ones that I reviewed. For example, it was about $50.00 more than the Toshiba. However, I am extremely happy with my Sony and I feel it was definitely worth the extra money!

I needed a small TV for my bedroom and this Sony delivered on all fronts. The picture quality is outstanding – crisp and vivid, without any of the artificial edge-enhancement on found on many analog televisions that I find so distracting. I went to a brick-and-mortar electronics retail chain to scout out small TVs, but kept coming back to the Sony because of the picture quality. It’s certainly a fair deal more expensive than other TVs of similar size, but you do seem to get what you pay for.

Inputs are plentiful, including a component input on the back, which is surprising on such a small set. There’s a channel labeling option so you can name your stations and a favorites button that lets you quickly surf to any of five preset channels, making channel surfing a breeze. Pushing and holding the channel up or down button will speed through channels in the direction of your choice. It’s also pretty trivial to adjust picture and color temperature to your liking; the menus are easy to navigate, unlike a lot of other cheaper sets I tried out. Sound easily fills a small room, but of course isn’t concert quality or anything.

Finally, the remote is nicely sized and idiot-proof. It’ll take you all of a minute to get used to it. I’m not sure if this will matter to anyone, but the remote is wider at the bottom, which allows it to stand upright on a nightstand or desk. Styling is subjective, but I think the Sony looks pretty good compared to its competition. This is an inexpensive TV that doesn’t look cheap. The only feature that’s missing is auto closed-captioning when the TV is muted, but this isn’t a deal breaker in my mind. Until all our signals are pristine, digital HDTV quality, we’ll have to live with the analog signals we get. I’m happy to say that this TV handles the latter really, really well.

I bought this tv for playing older video games that don’t look good on a HDTV. Overall, it serves it’s purpose quite well. The picture is vibrant, crisp, and very detailed. The only problem I have with the TV is that it is a little dark. This can be remedied by adjusting the brightness in the game. However, the tv doesn’t have a very wide range of adjustment itself. Some games, where there are no brightness options, are unplayable on this TV. Still, it is a much better option than the cheaper no name and underfeatured TVs that are available. It has component hookups, and that’s why I bought it.
