Excellent performance, reasonable price.,
I got this on a deal of the day for $1,499 and must say it was worth every penny. The picture is incredible: Bright, crisp and life-like. Everything you would expect from a Samsung. Of course at this price there are a few things you don’t get. It uses a fluorescent tube backlight instead of the more pricey LEDs. WiFi is supported but requires an optional (and proprietary) adapter costing 60-80 bucks. 3D glasses are not included and run about $140 each, but aftermarket alternatives can be had for 80-90 dollars. Thats not much concern to me, as I can run a wired connection to my LAN if I decide I really need to take advantage of the Web apps included. As for 3D, I’m guessing the cost of glasses will fall significantly by the time any serious amount of 3D content becomes available.
Setup was easy and quick. The remote for my set-top box connected on the first try. The only disappointment is that when external speakers are connected, the volume control can’t be set to work with them. You have to use a seperate remote (if the speakers have one) or switch devices on your universal remote.
