The Panasonic LCD AI incorporates two new technologies- the Active Light Control System and Active Contrast/Gamma Control System – which adjust backlight brightness and contrast so that each scene has fantastic contrast and detail. Flowers look vivid and natural, and landscapes are remarkably bright and true to life. Bright scenes are sharp and easy to see. Dark scenes benefit from deep, crisp black tones. This circuitry automatically detects the input signal brightness level and adjusts the backlight accordingly in real-time. Active Contrast Control detects the input signal brightness level and increases contrast by dynamically extending the output luminance signal. Active Gamma Control then boosts gradation in the luminance areas with the most image elements. The result is great detail, depth and realism. I just bought this TV after looking around at similar LCD TV’s from Sony and others. I’m extremely pleased with the picture quality. I have a larger DLP unit in the living room that I love, and and this TV’s picture quality is very comparible in overall quality. One thing that attracted me to this unit was the extremeley high contrast ratio. I occasionally take a TV outside to watch NFL football and the picture on my old TV would get very washed out. The high contrast ratio of this particular LCD TV enabled it to perform very well under bright light, plus it was lighter to move than my old TV and of course was high definition! We used it outside last weekend and I have to say the picture quality was even better than I had hoped. The viewing angles of this TV are impressive – much better than my DLP TV, especially in the vertical direction. I can move all around the room and the picture quality remains outstanding.

I found that both High Definition programs and regular programs display very well, which is important considering how many shows are not yet broadcast in high definition. The remote control and on screen functions are simple and clear, and like many remotes, this one can be used to control both my TV and my cable box. My only wish is that you could turn both the TV and cable box on/off with one button press instead of four (like can be done with most aftermarket universal remotes that can record macros). [UPDATE: After a couple of weeks I bought the inexpensive “ONE FOR ALL” 6-device universal remote that CAN turn both on/off with one button press]

There’s not a lot of bass from the speakers, but since this Panasonic TV was for a smaller room than my DLP, booming sound was not important to me. Of course the unit has the standard hook-ups for an external sound system if you want bigger sound.

The only photos of the Panasonic that I saw on the web showed the Panasic from a straight-on front view. This makes it look like the TV is almost all shinny silver (a color I’m not very fond of). When I unpacked the TV I was pleased to see that the sides and back of the unit are all a dark grey color and it looked a lot better than I had expected.

    I highly recommend this TV!

This TV works great. I have it installed in my 18 wheel truck, and it is the largest one that would fit. I am really impressed with the display and the many conections. I have it hooked up to Direct TV with an HDMI cable and the picture is beautiful. The sound is great and I really enjoy the surround feature. This TV is wall mountable, which is not stated in any specs I have read. I did extensive research on flat panels before deciding on this model. I feel I bought the best TV for the size and price.

This 23″ LCD HDTV has excellent image quality and looks really stylish, too. It also comes with HDMI so you can hook up the latest HD video source such as HD-DVD or Blue-ray hi-def DVD players. The LCD panel itself displays vivid, evenly-lit images, and ghosting appears to not be a problem on this model.

I personally ended up opting for the Sharp LD-23SH1U HDTV LCD monitor because the Sharp works as PC/Mac monitor (plus J&R started offering a $[…]rebate). But I think this Panasonic is a great choice, too, no doubt about that.

I couldn’t find a better price anywhere for this TV. Was nervous about buying such a pricey item online but it was delivered perfectly. We bought it for a TV in our bedroom and it services the purpose wonderfully. Consumer Reports rated it as a good TV and that it is. Nice picture quality, super price and arrived just fine.

This is an excellent LCD high definition television. The resolution is very good and it has a good viewing angle capability. The only negative that I found is that it does not have a HD built-in tuner. The HD capability is used only when component signals are present.
